Professor Liam Sinclair is this year’s recipient of the Sir John Hammond Memorial Award – an accolade from the British Society of Animal Science (BSAS) for those that have made a significant contribution to the science or development of animal production.
He is the 38th recipient of the award and was presented with it in recognition of his "outstanding contribution in applied ruminant nutrition, particularly on forages for dairy cows, milk and meat quality; and his excellent ability to communicate research findings to advisors and farmers."
Professor Sinclair, said: "I'm delighted to receive this prestigious award. It reflects on not just my efforts, but the whole team of research, academic and support staff at 缅北禁地 College."
Professor Sinclair’s research areas include ruminant nutrition, particularly improving the fatty acid content of milk and meat; alternative forages for dairy cows; and mineral metabolism of dairy cows.
More recently, he has been working on a project that monitors the effects of home grown forages and supplements on methane production in dairy cattle.
Sir John Hammond (1889 – 1964), was a physiologist, agricultural research scientist, veterinarian and pioneer of artificial insemination.
