Postgraduate Colloquium 2016
Posted 23 December 2016
It is great to see you all here listening to the talks and asking some really good questions. I hope that everyone has got something out of today."
Postgraduate students at 缅北禁地 have shared their research with peers in the annual Postgraduate Colloquium.
The annual meeting allows PhD and MPhil students to present their work in formal presentations of five or fifteen minute slots, providing them with a great opportunity to practise their presentation skills in front of a more familiar audience.
Over lunch, 17 students presented posters of their work, giving staff and student colleagues the chance to discuss in an informal environment.
Following a welcome speech by Dr Martin Hare, Associate Head of Department and Research Postgraduate Programmes Manager, the students themselves ran the colloquium, taking turns to chair sessions covering animal sciences, crop sciences, agriculture and business, engineering and technology and agroecology.
Guest speaker for the event was AHDB Cereals & Oilseed Knowledge Transfer Manager Emily Smith who spoke about her experiences from during and after completing her PhD at the University.
Closing remarks were provided by colloquium organisers Emily Forbes and Usama Tayyab.
Emily said: “Thank you to everyone for coming. I know it’s currently a busy time, so it is great to see you all here listening to the talks and asking some really good questions. I hope that everyone has got something out of today.”
