Members of 1st Church Aston Brownie Pack have visited Harper Adams to learn about the animals housed in the Companion Animal House (CAH) in order to earn their Friends to Animals badge.
During their visit, the girls and their leaders were given a tour by Teaching Assistant Rebekah Gerard to see the wide variety of animals that live at the facility.
The unit leader, also known as Brown Owl, and PR & Communications Officer at Harper, said: “The girls really enjoyed seeing and learning about the animals that live in the CAH, including guinea pigs, mice, chinchillas, turtles, snakes and lizards.
“The time appeared to fly by as the girls were so inquisitive and had so many great questions to ask Rebekah, who did a fantastic job of answering them. They were so engaged and passionate to learn.
“Even though it was soon time for us to go home, the girls still got the chance to handle one of the guinea pigs called Teddy before leaving.
“This visit is a great example of the variety of activities that we aim to organise as part of a diverse programme.
"I'd like to thank Rebekah for enabling this event to happen, including giving up some of her free time. It really was a great experience.
"It was great for the children and the other leaders to see the facility; none of them knew it existed before visiting."
The CAH is designed to demonstrate handling and husbandry techniques relating to small animal species and to act as a research centre for welfare and behaviour studies to contribute toward the university's animal .
