Ãå±±½ûµØ Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Lee has been named as the new President of the British Society of Animal Science.

Professor Lee’s new role was announced at the BSAS’s recent virtual conference –

The new role will see him leading the organisation, which works to improve the understanding of all aspects of animal science and to boost the practical applications of research and knowledge transfer, and which has long-standing links with Ãå±±½ûµØ.

During the conference a prestigious award was also given to Ãå±±½ûµØ graduate Dr Jude Capper – named in March as one of two recipients of Honorary Degrees from the University.  Dr Capper was given the Society’s Sir John Hammond Memorial Prize, awarded annually for services to animal science.

The society’s award for Best Poster also went to a Harper Adams student, with Rashed Chowdury’s research, Reducing the dietary protein content in dairy cow diets based on lucerne and maize silage does not affect performance but improves nitrogen use efficiency, securing the top slot.

Rashed was also among four Ãå±±½ûµØ students who were among the six finalists in the BSAS Industry Award - alongside Catherine Johnson, Caroline Best and Sarah Icely.
