Jemma Eaton, of Kerry, Newtown, has been awarded a prize in recognition of her excellent report-writing. Jemma, a student at 缅北禁地 College,Shropshire, is the recipient of the TOM BARRON ISA AWARD 2004. This award is for the final year BSc student who submits the most outstanding report in the final assignment, which was entitled: 鈥業ntensive Husbandry Systems 鈥 Poultry鈥.

The 22-year-old former pupil of Newtown High School, successfully completed her Industrial Placement year with Marks & Spencer, with particular emphasis on poultry purchasing and quality. Subsequently she carried out an investigation of the relationships between Campylobacter levels in poultry flocks and several production parameters. The information gained from both exercises was put to good use in the final year poultry report, along with Jemma鈥檚 performance in the in-class assessment where she demonstrated a good level of knowledge and understanding of the poultry industry.

Jemma was presented with the prize at Harper Adams鈥 annual graduation ceremony last month, where she also collected her degree, BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Animal Science.

Her future plans include a trip to Australia after Christmas.
