Soil is the foundation of civilisation: we build our homes on it, and we get virtually all our food from it either directly or indirectly. Along with water, these are vital components of all life. Our research group aims to further our understanding of soil and water relationships, our impact on these, and how they can be managed in a sustainable manner.

Our expertise covers all elements of soil and water, from the microscale up to global systems. We work on both biotic and abiotic elements and use a range of approaches, from reductionist to holistic, to ensure that we have a thorough understanding of soil and water and their interactions.
